  • Scotts and USMNT captain Tyler Adams held a grand-opening ribbon-cutting for the renovated Tyler Adams Soccer Pitch in Wappinger, NY, on July 22, 2026.
  • The field restoration was funded by Scotts as part of its "Keep It Real" initiative, done in partnership with nonprofits Every Kid Sports and Project EverGreen.
  • The project extends a Scotts-Adams partnership that began in 2025 and has now surpassed $400,000 invested, helping more than 2,000 kids nationwide access natural grass fields.
  • The unveiling comes weeks after Adams captained the USMNT through its home-soil 2026 World Cup run, which ended in a 4-1 knockout-stage loss to Belgium.

Scotts and U.S. Men’s National Team captain Tyler Adams officially reopened the newly renovated Tyler Adams Soccer Pitch in Wappinger, New York, on July 22, marking the completion of a Scotts-funded restoration of the very field where Adams first learned to play.

The grand opening featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, remarks from local leaders, and a meet-and-greet with Adams, alongside representatives from nonprofit partners Every Kid Sports and Project EverGreen.

“Growing up in Wappinger, this field played an important role in shaping who I am, both as an athlete and as a person,” Adams said, adding that he wanted local kids to have the same opportunity he did.

The renovation is the latest chapter in Scotts’ “Keep It Real” initiative, which the brand launched with Adams in 2025 to expand access to natural grass playing fields. Scotts has now invested more than $400,000 through the initiative, helping over 2,000 kids nationwide play on real turf.

John Sass, senior vice president and general manager of North America at ScottsMiracle-Gro, called the Wappinger project the initiative’s most personal milestone yet.

The grand-opening event follows the campaign’s May 2026 expansion, which restored five additional youth-nonprofit fields.

Off the field, Adams has stayed busy. He also fronts Haleon’s “For the Assist” campaign alongside USWNT legend Crystal Dunn, a multi-brand wellness push spanning Advil, Sensodyne, Centrum and TUMS.

He became the first American to win the Premier League’s Goal of the Month award for November 2025 and joined the ownership group of USL club Westchester SC in June 2025. He’s part of a broader wave of USMNT stars cashing in around the World Cup, with teammate Christian Pulisic striking his own 2026 tournament deal with Degree.

On the pitch, Adams captained the USMNT through its home-soil 2026 World Cup run, which ended in a 4-1 knockout-stage loss to Belgium. He remains a regular starter for AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Takeaways

This isn’t a one-off sponsorship; it’s Scotts building an entire brand platform around one athlete’s hometown story, and doubling down on it a year in.

Naming an actual field after Adams and funding its restoration is about as tangible as brand storytelling gets, and it lands right as U.S. soccer’s cultural moment peaks post-World Cup.

For Adams, it’s another data point in a deliberate off-field identity built around community and wellness (Scotts, Haleon, and past work with Allstate), rather than flashy one-off endorsements.

Notably, Scotts’ athlete roster still begins and ends with Adams. The brand hasn’t diversified beyond him since the 2025 launch, making this a genuinely exclusive, long-term bet.

Is Adams quietly building one of the more durable off-field brand portfolios among his USMNT teammates? Could this hometown-field model become a template other athletes and brands copy for future CSR plays?
