LaMelo Ball has revealed the PUMA MB.06, his sixth signature sneaker, in a debut colorway inspired by Puerto Rico.

The design pairs light and royal blue across the upper with white graphics, Puerto Rican flags on the tongues, and holographic detailing, alongside the “Rare” and “One of One” embroidery that’s become a signature stamp on Ball’s shoes.

PUMA confirmed the “Puerto Rico” colorway releases exclusively on the island on July 31, 2026, though pricing and a wider rollout haven’t been announced.

The MB.06 continues a partnership that dates back to November 2020, when Ball signed a reported $100 million shoe deal with PUMA as an incoming rookie, becoming the brand’s first signature athlete since it relaunched its basketball category in 2018.

The MB.01 debuted in December 2021, and PUMA has released a new signature model nearly every year since, including collaborations built around Rick and Morty and TMNT.

The reveal also lands amid a major career shift. Ball was traded from the Charlotte Hornets to the Minnesota Timberwolves this summer, pairing him with Anthony Edwards in one of the NBA’s most anticipated new backcourts.

Beyond PUMA, Ball has partnered with AT&T and has business ventures including 1 of 1 Labs and his own 1LaFrance.com lifestyle venture.

PUMA’s roster of sneaker storytelling stretches well beyond Ball. A$AP Rocky, the brand’s creative director, recently revived the archival Suede ’94, while Rosé fronted PUMA’s new Speedcat Mule campaign as part of her ongoing global ambassador role.

Elsewhere in basketball, Sabrina Ionescu unveiled her Nike Sabrina 4 “Limelight Glow” the same week, a reminder that summer 2026 has turned into a packed season for signature sneaker drops across the league.

Takeaways

The MB.06 lands at an odd but interesting moment; Ball’s on-court home just changed, but his footwear identity hasn’t skipped a beat.

Leading a sixth signature line with a regional exclusive rather than a splashy global drop suggests PUMA is now comfortable treating Ball’s sneaker calendar as a steady, ongoing franchise rather than a hype-cycle reset with every launch.

This is also a small but telling move: a Puerto Rico-only release signals PUMA is investing in specific fan communities rather than one-size-fits-all global drops.

Does a market-exclusive drop like this build stronger regional loyalty than a simultaneous worldwide release? With six signature models now in market, is PUMA’s MB line becoming a lifestyle franchise as much as a performance one?
