A$AP Rocky, PUMA’s Creative Director, is turning back the clock. On July 13, 2026, PUMA unveiled the A$AP Rocky x PUMA Suede ’94, a stitch-for-stitch archive reissue pulled from the brand’s 1990s catalog.

The package features a slimmer tooling shape, a raw-edge padded tongue, a retro woven label, a gold PUMA lace keeper, and a custom shoebox. Its signature detail is an oversized retro PUMA logo across the quarter panel, a scale PUMA says no earlier Suede has used.

Rocky calls the project personal, recalling when his mom bought him his first pair of suedes, and nodding to Walt “Clyde” Frazier, whose style helped define the silhouette decades earlier. The design channels 1994 New York, when hip-hop’s Golden Era, early streetwear, and downtown skate culture converged.

This is the latest chapter in Rocky’s PUMA run. In May, he fronted the Mostro 3.D Mule, a backless spin on the sculptural sneaker unveiled at his AWGE runway show.

That drop sits alongside PUMA’s other music-driven ties, including Rosé’s H-Street campaign, and Rocky’s parallel role as Ray-Ban’s Creative Director, where he earlier this year Nas for a Metals eyewear campaign inspired by the film Belly.

Ahead of the global launch, Rocky hosts a pop-up at Joe’s Ginger (25 Pell Street, NYC Chinatown) from 4 to 8 p.m. EST on July 15. The A$AP Rocky x PUMA Suede ’94 drops worldwide July 16 via PUMA.com, PUMA stores, and select retailers.

Takeaways

This isn’t a licensing deal, it’s a design story. Rocky isn’t lending his name to a re-release, he’s using his creative directorship to decide which chapter of PUMA’s own history gets told and how.

That distinction, an archive reissue built around a personal memory rather than a marketing calendar, is what’s separated his PUMA run from a standard ambassador deal since day one.

It’s also a reminder that Rocky’s creative footprint right now spans footwear, eyewear, and luxury fashion simultaneously, with PUMA, Ray-Ban, and Chanel all active at once, alongside a world tour. Few artists are running that many creative-director lanes in parallel without one diluting the others.

Does an archive reissue like the Suede ’94 hit differently than a brand-new signature silhouette, and does that matter for how collectors value it? With Rocky steering creative direction at both PUMA and Ray-Ban, how much of the “authenticity” here comes from taste versus access?
