Mexican cumbia-punk outfit Son Rompe Pera has signed with ROAM for live music and touring representation worldwide, excluding Europe/UK and Mexico. Agents Karl Morse and Maxx Lesnick are leading the deal.

The band continues with Surshows for booking representation in Europe/UK and for management, and stays with Knitting Factory Management (KFM) as co-manager. That management pairing came together this spring, when KFM’s Aaron Johnson joined longtime manager Timothy Bisig of Surshows.

Formed in Mexico City in 2017 by brothers Kacho, Mongo, and Kilos Gama, Son Rompe Pera fuses traditional marimba with punk energy: “We are rockers who play cumbia,” as Mongo Gama has put it.

Their marimba mosh pits have become a signature of a live show that’s taken them to Coachella, Vive Latino in both Mexico and Spain, and an NPR Tiny Desk concert. The Los Angeles Times has called them one of the most energetic acts in Latin punk, period.

The signing arrives as the band preps a new album, Marimbazos De Oro (Golden Marimba Hits), due September 18, 2026, produced by Grammy-nominated Black Pumas co-founder Adrian Quesada.

It follows the new single “Nada Que Hacer” and a run of European and Japanese festival dates, including Gurtenfestival in Switzerland and Fuji Rock in Japan. The band heads into a U.S. tour this summer with stops in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and Chicago.

ROAM, formed in September 2025 through the merger of Arrival Artists and ATC Live, has stayed busy in 2026 signing acts to similar worldwide deals.

The agency recently added South London post-punk act Dry Cleaning for representation worldwide (excluding North America), then signed instrumental four-piece Long Distance Runner under a similar setup.

Son Rompe Pera’s deal is a different carve-out: Europe/UK stays with Surshows and Mexico is excluded, leaving ROAM the rest of the map for a band whose international festival footprint keeps growing.

Takeaways

This is a carve-out deal, not a clean sweep. ROAM picks up the biggest slice of the map, but Surshows keeps Europe/UK, the band’s strongest touring region to date, and Mexico stays outside the arrangement entirely, likely reflecting the band’s deep home-market ties.

Pairing that with a September album from a Grammy-nominated producer and a summer already packed with festival dates suggests a camp trying to convert years of grassroots buzz into a bigger booking infrastructure without disrupting what’s already working.

For ROAM, it’s another notch in a busy 2026 of worldwide-minus-one-region signings, though this one breaks from its recent UK-guitar-band pattern into Latin alternative music.

Does splitting Europe/UK from the rest of the world help or slow down festival routing for a band already booked across three continents? Will the new Adrian Quesada-produced album push Son Rompe Pera past cult-favorite status in markets ROAM now controls?
