Actor and filmmaker Will Ropp has signed with United Talent Agency (UTA) for representation in all areas.

The signing comes on the heels of a breakthrough year behind the camera for Ropp. At the 2026 South by Southwest (SXSW) Film & TV Festival, he premiered his feature directorial debut, the coming-of-age comedy Brian.

Ropp directed and produced the project, which stars Ben Wang, William H. Macy, Randall Park, and Natalie Morales, with late-night host Seth Meyers serving as an executive producer. Ropp previously wrote and directed the 2024 short film Kodar: The Primordial God of Light and Ether.

As a performer, Ropp broke out opposite Ben Affleck in Gavin O’Connor’s 2020 sports drama The Way Back. He went on to earn strong notices in the SXSW-winning drama The Fallout, joined Zac Efron and Russell Crowe in Peter Farrelly’s The Greatest Beer Run Ever for Apple TV+, and appeared in the indie comedy-thriller Only the Good Survive.

Prior to joining UTA, Ropp was represented by The Gersh Agency. He remains under the management of Entertainment 360 and continues his publicity representation with Apex Public Relations.

UTA has actively expanded its roster of emerging creators and multihyphenates throughout 2026. Ropp’s addition follows closely on the heels of Reggie Absolom joining the agency to advance original screen projects, as well as Caleb McDaniel for representation across television, film, modeling, and digital media.

Takeaways

Will Ropp’s move to UTA highlights the industry’s growing appetite for true multi-hyphenates who can move fluidly between acting, writing, and directing.

While Ropp first gained traction as a charismatic screen presence in studio films like The Way Back, making his feature directorial debut with Brian at SXSW 2026 proved he can assemble high-caliber comedy talent and secure major industry backing from veterans like Seth Meyers.

Signing with UTA for representation “in all areas” rather than just theatrical acting is a strategic pivot. It ensures that Ropp’s future original projects receive full agency packaging support, while keeping his pipeline open for substantial on-screen roles as his profile rises.

Do you think Will Ropp will focus primarily on directing comedy features like Brian, or will acting remain his main priority? How important was executive producer Seth Meyers’ backing in putting Ropp’s directorial work on the radar of top agencies?
