Jennie Fronts Ray-Ban’s “Back to School” Campaign

Celebrity Name:JENNIE
Brand:Ray-Ban
Deal Type:Back-to-School Campaign (Global Ambassador)
Announced:July 28, 2026
  • Ray-Ban's new "Back to School" campaign puts Jennie in an updated take on its 1937 Aviator, now fitted with Transitions GEN S lenses that shift from clear to ruby-pink in sunlight.
  • The campaign extends Jennie's role as Ray-Ban and Ray-Ban Meta's global ambassador, a deal made official in April 2026.
  • It arrives during Jennie's busiest touring stretch yet: a first-ever K-pop solo headline set at Governors Ball, followed by back-to-back European festival dates.

Ray-Ban has unveiled “Back to School,” a new campaign starring Jennie, reworking the brand’s classic Aviator, first designed in 1937, with new Transitions GEN S lenses in a ruby tint.

The lenses stay clear indoors and shift to a rose hue in sunlight; for those who want the tint regardless of weather, Ray-Ban is also offering the same silhouette with a subtler Transitions Color Touch Ruby lens.

The campaign extends Jennie’s role as Ray-Ban and Ray-Ban Meta’s global ambassador, a partnership made official in April 2026 after she headlined the brand’s first pop-up store opening in Seoul the previous fall.

Jennie arrives at the campaign fresh off one of the busiest stretches of her solo career. In June, she became the first K-pop soloist to headline Governors Ball Music Festival in New York.

In July, she made history again, headlining Denmark’s Roskilde Festival and Poland’s Open’er Festival on consecutive nights before closing out Spain’s Mad Cool Festival.

Along the way, she previewed her new single “Less Than a Lover,” released this month, while her Tame Impala collaboration “Dracula” climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay chart.

Ray-Ban has leaned on music talent before: the brand has previously named Lenny Kravitz its ambassador and appointed A$AP Rocky its first-ever creative director.

Jennie’s own endorsement slate spans Chanel, the Tamburins Bottari fragrance campaign, and Calvin Klein, whose Fall 2026 runway show she attended in New York.

The rollout also lands amid a wider wave of 2026 celebrity-fronted back-to-school campaigns. MUNA fronted UGG’s new fall campaign, while Madison Bailey starred in Journeys’ back-to-school push alongside Anna Cathcart and Sky Brown.

Brands are clearly betting that culture-forward faces, not just seasonal discounts, are what move product this time of year.

Takeaways

This isn’t a new signing, it’s Ray-Ban re-upping on an ambassador it already has, using a seasonal moment (and genuinely new lens tech) to keep the partnership feeling current instead of static.

That’s a smarter play than most one-off “face of the brand” drops: it turns Jennie’s deal into an ongoing story rather than a single splashy announcement.

It also says something about how stacked Jennie’s calendar has become. Between headlining three European festivals in under a week, dropping a new single, and now fronting a seasonal eyewear push, she’s operating at a pace few artists, K-pop or otherwise, can sustain. Ray-Ban is betting that pace translates into borrowed cultural relevance.

Zoom out further, and Ray-Ban, UGG, and Journeys are all running back-to-school campaigns built around music and TV talent this year, just with very different playbooks: one global superstar versus an ensemble cast.

Does refreshing a deal with new product tech (like the Transitions GEN S lenses) keep an ambassadorship feeling new longer than a one-time splashy launch? Between Ray-Ban’s one-star approach and UGG’s ensemble cast, which strategy builds more lasting brand loyalty with Gen Z shoppers?
