Ethiopian-American singer, songwriter, and producer Mereba has signed with Orienteer for PR representation, adding another layer of support to her expanding career. She continues to be represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA) for bookings and is managed by Amlak Music. Her latest single, Counterfeit, was released last week under the Secretly Canadian label, capturing her signature fusion of R&B, hip-hop, and soul.
Career Highlights: Born Marian Azeb Mereba in Montgomery, Alabama, and raised in Pennsylvania, Mereba discovered her passion for music at an early age. Her Ethiopian heritage has deeply influenced her artistic expression, as has her formal education; she attended Spelman College, where she graduated in 2011 with a degree in English and a minor in music. Mereba first broke into the music scene with her self-released debut project, Room For Living EP, in 2013, establishing her presence in Atlanta’s vibrant indie music community.
In 2018, Mereba signed with Interscope Records, releasing the singles Black Truck and Planet U, which later appeared on her critically acclaimed debut album, The Jungle Is The Only Way Out (2019). Known for her poetic lyricism and genre-bending sound, she quickly became a sought-after collaborator, working with artists like JID, EarthGang, and 6LACK, and contributing to Dreamville’s Grammy-nominated album Revenge of the Dreamers III.
Building on the success of her debut, Mereba released the introspective EP AZEB in 2021, a project reflecting her Ethiopian roots and themes of resilience and growth. With her recent release Counterfeit, Mereba continues to push creative boundaries, blending soulful melodies with introspective lyrics. Her partnership with Orienteer, alongside support from CAA and Amlak Music, signals a promising new chapter for the rising artist as she continues to captivate audiences with her unique sound and storytelling.
