Dutch DJ Nicky Romero was born Nick Rotteveel van Gotum in the city of Amerongen on January 6, 1989. His introduction to music came in the form of snare drums, his first instrument, yet when he entered his teenage years, he moved on to DJ turntables to try his hand at something new. After earning some income as a bartender, Nicky Romero signed to Once Records, through which he released the songs “Privilege” and “Qwerty”. His remixes and tracks gained much recognition on YouTube, and after the release of “Toulouse” in 2012, he was named an EDM artist to watch by MTV. That year, he was granted residency alongside David Guetta at a party spot in Ibiza.
2013 saw the release of “I Could Be The One”, “Symphonica”, and his collaboration with Krewella entitled “Legacy”, which became a #1 song. He also had the opportunity that year to play at Coachella, the Ultra Music Festival, and the Electric Daisy Carnival. The song “Legacy” was used in the 2014 Australian advertisements for the series Revenge, allowing the single to chart in Australia.
