About Kevin Costner
Kevin Michael Costner was born on January 18, 1955, in Lynwood, California, and was raised in Compton and other parts of Southern California. He attended California State University, Fullerton, where he graduated with a degree in marketing and finance in 1978. After college, Costner pursued acting, starting with small roles before breaking into major films.
Costner’s breakthrough came with his role in "The Untouchables" (1987), where he portrayed Eliot Ness alongside Robert De Niro and Sean Connery. This film was a commercial success and established Costner as a leading actor in Hollywood. His next significant role was in "Bull Durham" (1988), a baseball movie in which he starred with Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. The following year, Costner starred in "Field of Dreams" (1989), another baseball-themed film that became a cultural phenomenon. In 1990, Costner directed and starred in "Dances with Wolves," a film that grossed over $424 million worldwide. The film won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Costner. This success was followed by his roles in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" (1991) and "JFK" (1991), directed by Oliver Stone, where he portrayed the titular character, both films achieving high box office numbers and critical recognition. Since 2018, Costner has starred in the television series "Yellowstone," playing John Dutton. The series has been a significant success, consistently ranking as one of the most-watched cable shows.
