Kevin Michael Costner was born on January 18, 1955, in Lynwood, California, and was raised in Compton and other parts of Southern California. He attended California State University, Fullerton, where he graduated with a degree in marketing and finance in 1978. After college, Costner pursued acting, starting with small roles before breaking into major films.

Costner’s breakthrough came with his role in "The Untouchables" (1987), where he portrayed Eliot Ness alongside Robert De Niro and Sean Connery. This film was a commercial success and established Costner as a leading actor in Hollywood. His next significant role was in "Bull Durham" (1988), a baseball movie in which he starred with Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins.
