Claire Saffitz is an American food writer, recipe developer, and video host, born on September 16, 1986, in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Harvard University in 2009, and her passion for cooking led her to Paris, where she studied classic French cuisine and pastry at École Grégoire Ferrandi. She is a former senior food editor at Bon Appétit magazine, where she worked for five years in the test kitchen. Claire was the host of the YouTube show Gourmet Makes for Bon Appétit's YouTube channel, where she created culinary masterpieces from junk food and childhood snacks. Claire launched her own YouTube channel in December of 2020, produced by Vincent Cross, formerly of Bon Appétit. On this channel, she demonstrated recipes from her book, Dessert Person, which was a New York Times Best Seller.
On January 22, 2020, Claire appeared in The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
