The actual number amount would depend mainly upon the "level of celebrity" of the artist, as well as the other factors. The a good artist's agent will deliver anything deemed of value to the artist's attention initially

I have area that holds 8000. I'm trying to also determine a good starting baseline price for the artist. I was thinking of starting around 15k

Way too low for a venue of that capacity

To know the best offer, first thing is the venue capacity and then what is your estimated budget. jaywest[at]thecoolvizions.com.. Then you base it off of how big the artist you are trying to bring etc.

Welcome to celebrity booking. This is a question that is often asked, and unfortunately there isn't a straightforward answer. You didn't specify the type of event or celebrity, so I'm going to assume that you are referring to booking an artist for a concert /event. There are a couple ways to come up with a good offer, but I'll provide you with an easy one.

Since you are completely new to booking artists, you don't have a mental price gauge of a new artist vs an older artist. So you are going to need to do some research. Start with a few mid-size artists, and see research the venues that they have performed in, along with their upcoming shows. Research/Call to find out the capacity for those venues, and see the ticket price that was sold for those events. Promoters book artists to make money, not lose money, so you can assume that the ticket price is for them to make a profit. So you can take the ticket price, and capacity of a few of their events, and this will give you a rough price range. You only want to take small sample of 3 "consistent" months. What I mean by "consistent" months is you don't want to utilize a month in which they just released a hit song/or have a song rising fast or any career events that will make the booking price fluctuate greatly.

1000 capacity venue x 30 ticket price = $30,000. So with the assumption that the promoter is doing the event to make a profit. You can assume that they paid under $30,000 for the artist. You can create a range of $15,000-$25,000. You should do this for multiple events in order to get a more accurate range. The more data, the better.

Once you start booking celebrities and putting in offers, you'll start to create a mental calculator in your head to where you have a rough idea of what a specific celebrity will cost just based off of experience.

Hope this helps

Thank you this sounds very helpful. I will be trying it out hopefully it gets me somewhere
