Rapper Young Scooter was born Kenneth Edward Bailey on March 28, 1986, in Walterboro, South Carolina. At a young age, he was forced to live his life surrounded by drugs and violence that was prevalent in his community, and with the absence of a father figure, Young Scooter began to make role models out of the other men in his community. When he was in his early 20s, Young Scooter was charged with drug trafficking, and at that moment he realized he needed to focus his energy into something else; hence his career in music. Between 2008 and 2012, Young Scooter released four mixtapes, and had the opportunity to work with childhood friend Future as well as Rocko and Waka Flocka Flames, to name a few artists.
It was not until January of 2013 that he gained the recognition he needed. He released his fifth mixtape Street Lottery, which was lauded by magazines and websites as one of the hottest rap releases that week. He is affiliated with the labels Black Migo Gang and Freebandz, which are comprised of some of his closest rapper friends, and he is recognized as being an honest rapper due to the stories that he tells of the life he once lived.
