Sway Calloway, born on August 23rd, 1970 in Oakland, California is an American rapper, reporter and radio show host better known as just ‘Sway’. Sway began rapping and break dancing in the Bay Area of San Francisco in the 80’s. After graduating high school he met and partnered with DJ and rapper King Tech to produce their debut album, Concrete Jungle, in 1991 in conjunction with Giant Records. The release of the album allowed Sway and his partner Tech to be picked up by the local radio station KMEL which resulted in their very own radio show called The Wake Up Show.

The Wake Up Show was dedicated to playing music and interviewing well known hip-hop artists and current up and comers on the scene. The show featured up and coming rappers, at the time, such as Eminem, Rass Kass, and Chino XL. Its popularity secured another record deal for Sway and his partner through Interscope Records and resulted in the album This or That which reached number 30 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

Sway’s popularity brought him a job with MTV in 2000 as a correspondent. Another album, Back 2 Basics was released by Sway in 2005, and these days Sway hosts another radio show on Eminem’s Shade 45 channel, called Sway in the Morning.
