Racionais MC’s is a Brazilian musical group that was formed in 1990 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The members of the group include the MCs Pedro Paulo Soares Pereira aka Mano Brown, Paulo Eduardo Salvador aka Ice Blue, Edvaldo Pereira Alves aka Edi Rock and the DJ Kleber Geraldo Lelis Simões aka KL Jay.

The group first got national attention for their singles Panico na Zona Sul and Tempos Dificeis which appeared in the collection Consciencia Black (Zimbabwe). Their first LP Holocausto Urbano appeared two years after their formation and sold 50,000 copies. The group’s popularity further increased with the release of the delicate singles Voz Ativa and Negro Limitado which also appeared in the sophomore LP. They also released Sobrevivendo no Inferno which sold over 500,000 copies solidifying their success. Their music videos for their tracks Diario de um Detento and Magico de Oz (1998) won the Video Music Brazil promoted by MTV Brazil. The group was also awarded the prizes for Best Rap Group and Audience’s Choice.
