Nick Cassavetes was born on May 21, 1959 in New York, New York. He grew up in the business because his father, John Cassavetes, was also a director. After an injury crushed his dreams of becoming a professional basketball player, he unexpectedly followed in his father’s footsteps and became involved with films and television.
Nick starred in two of his films, Husbands (1970) and A Woman Under the Influence (1974). After this, he attended the same university as his parents, the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He then acted in several feature films such as Face/Off (1997) and The Astronaut’s Wife (1999). In the early 2000’s, he tried his hand at directing. Some of his most successful projects include Blow (2001), The Notebook (2004), and My Sister’s Keeper (2009). During his career he has won awards from various international film festivals, as well as a Daytime Emmy for the work he did on The Incredible Mrs. Richie (2003).
