Michael Downie (born on March 8, 1987, in Vancouver, Canada) is a Canadian adventure traveler who loves to explore new places and share his experiences with his online audience. He has hundreds of thousands of followers on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Some of his adventures include sending postcards from Newfoundland, riding the California Zephyr train for 82 hours, and tracking polar bears in northern Canada.
Before becoming a full-time traveler and content creator, Michael worked as a transportation specialist at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and a program coordinator at the Hearing Foundation of Canada. He has a marketing degree from the British Columbia Institute of Technology, which he uses to run his DownieLive Media company since 2017.
Michael is also an avid ultimate frisbee player and coach. He grew up watching Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs and admiring his adventurous spirit. He is not related to Michael Downie, the documentary filmmaker who shares his name. He draws inspiration from YouTubers like Peter McKinnon and Christian LeBlanc, who also make travel videos.
