About Emeril Lagasse
Emeril Lagasse was born on 15th October, 1959 in Fall River, Massachusetts, United States. He is an American chef, TV personality and cookbook author. He opened his first restaurant “Emeril” in 1990 in New Orleans. The restaurant has won many awards- “Wine Spectator” Grand Award and “Restaurant of the Year” in the magazine “Esquire”. Lagasse also won the award “National Best Recipe” for his “Turkey and Hot Sausage Chili”. “Emeril Live” and “The Essence of Emeril” became television sensations and Lagasse was a TV fixture in the late ‘90s. He is not just famous because of his cooking skills, but bringing fun and comedy in the whole process as well (like saying “BAM!” & “Kick it up a notch!”- his catchphrases). When his shows were canceled in 2007 and 2008, he kept his restaurants, but decided to sell the rest of his brand to Martha Stewart’s company “Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia” in 2008. He has written many cookbooks, like “New New Orleans Cooking”, “Prime Time Emeril”, “Emeril’s TV Dinners” and many more. Lagasse runs the “Emeril Lagasse Foundation”, a non-profit charity founded in 2012 and has donated millions. He was even named “Humanitarian of the Year” by the James Beard Foundation.
