Brant Bjork is an American rock singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist better known as the drummer of the 1990s stoner-rock band Kyuss. He was born in Palm Springs, California in 1973, where he founded Kyuss in 1987, along with guitarist Josh Homme, bassist Nick Oliveri, and singer John Garcia. After moving to Los Angeles and debuting with “Wretch” in 1991, Kyuss signed with Electra and issued the stoner-rock iconic album “Blues for the Red Sun” a year later. In 1994 Bjork left Kyuss and devoted himself to production work for projects like Fu Manchu, a band that he ended up joining in 1997, while also doing studio drumming for several indie projects in his label El Camino Records. In 1999 Bjork debuted as a solo artist with the full-length album “Jalamanta”, following up with three more releases as Brant Bjork & the Operators. During this period he also formed the trio Ché and took part in the hardcore band Mondo Operator. After renaming his label as Low Desert Punk Records, Bjork carried on with the solo efforts, issuing “Rock Guilt” (2005), “Gods & Goddesses” (2010), “Tao of the Devil” (2016), and “Mankind Woman” (2018).
