Amel Larrieux is an American singer and songwriter, born on March 8, 1973, in Manhattan, New York. She became known as one of the founding members of the duo Groove Theory, along with Bryce Wilson in 1991. The duo is known for their Top Ten pop and R&B hit Tell Me, released in October 1995. In 1996, Amel was a vocalist for the group Sweetback that released a self-titled album that reached the charts. After leaving the group, Amel released her debut solo single, Get Up, in November 1999. She released her debut solo album, Infinite Possibilities, the following year in February on 550 Music. Two years after the release of her debut album, she recorded the song What's Come Over Me that was featured on the Barbershop soundtrack. Together with Glenn Lewis, she recorded Where Is the Love and the performance earned them a Grammy nomination. In 2004, she established her own label Blisslife and released the albums Bravebird, Morning, Lovely Standards, and Ice Cream Everyday.
