Dave Attell (born January 18, 1965 in Queens, New York City, New York, USA) is a stand-up comedian, actor, and writer, best known as the host of Comedy Central's Insomniac with Dave Attell and The Gong Show with Dave Attell.
Dave first appeared on television on VH1's Stand-Up Spotlight, in 1988. In 2011, his show, Dave's Old Porn, premiered on Showtime. The show ran for 2 seasons on Showtime, while his stand up series, Dave Attell’s Comedy Underground, and his one hour special, Road Work, were featured on Comedy Central.
He has appeared in several films including Pootie Tang written and directed by fellow comedian and friend Louis C.K. He also appeared in Funny People, Scary Movie 4, Los Enchiladas and in Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck and I Feel Pretty.
He has also appeared in The Simpsons, Difficult People, Bob’s Burgers, Arrested Development, The Jim Gaffigan Show, The Jim Norton Show, Inside Amy Schumer, Louie, Ed, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. He was named one of the “25 Funniest People in America” by Entertainment Weekly Magazine. When not on the road, Attell makes regular appearances at the Comedy Cellar in New York City.
