The Agonist is a Canadian heavy metal band formed in 2007 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band was originally named The Tempest before the rebranded to The Agonist in 2007 after signing for Century Media. The original founders of The Agonist are vocalist White-Gluz, guitarists Danny Marino and Pascal Jobin (also known as Paco), bassist Chris Kells, and drummer Simon McKay.
Their debut album Once Only Imagined was released through Century Media and its success put them on the road touring. Their followup album Lullabies for the Dormant Mind was released in 2009. It gave them worldwide attention and helped them appear on stages in Latin America, Europe and Asia. Prisoners appeared in 2012 hitting the Billboard and charting in Japan. In 2015, the group released Eye of Providence and in 2016, Five came along. In September 2019, they released Orphans which proved to be one of their heaviest albums ever released.
