The Allman Brothers Band was a rock band from America. The band was formed in 1996 by brothers Duane Allman and Gregg Allman. Other band members include lead guitarist/vocalist Dickey Betts, drummer Butch Trucks, bass guitarist Berry Oakley, and drummer Jai Johanny. Their music style included a blend of jazz, country music, and blues. The band released their first two albums, titled “The Allman Brothers Band” in 1969 and “Idlewild South” in 1970.
In 1971, their group leader Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident, and the band released a double album titled “Eat a Peach” in 1972 in his memory. They released their fourth album, titled “Brother and Sisters,” in 1973 after recruiting keyboardist Chuck Leavell. The band was disbanded in 1982 but regrouped once more in 1989. They found some stability in the 2000s with guitarists Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes and bassist Oteil Burbridge joining the team.
