Alex Matos was born February 12, 1976 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is also known as El Salsero de Ahora. He got involved in music at a very young age when he was the lead in a band when he was just five years old.

He has released several albums including El Salsero De Ahora, Salsa, Sabor & Sentimiento. During his music career, he recorded with Planet Records, AJD and Planet Records. He won the Lo Nuestro Award for Tropical New Artist of the Year. He has also won the Salsero of the Year at the Latin Awards, Casandra Awards, Sovereign Awards, and International Star Awards.
