Actor and musician Matthew Keoni Sato has signed with Buchwald for representation in film, television, theatre, and voiceover. Agent Mike Carr will lead his team at the agency.

Sato began acting professionally at age 13 with a guest role on CBS’s Hawaii Five-0. He later gained mainstream recognition starring as series regular Kai Kameāloha for two seasons of the Disney+ series Doogie Kameāloha, M.D.

His television resume also includes recurring roles as Mack in season four of Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Gil Vatooley in the Peacock reboot of Saved by the Bell, and an appearance in Freeform’s Grown-ish.

In the digital space, Sato built an early youth following starring across 33 episodes of Brat TV’s popular teen web series Chicken Girls.

Sato has accelerated his transition into major studio productions. He made his feature film debut in the 2024 Blumhouse supernatural horror film Imaginary. Most recently, Sato joined the recurring cast for season two of the Netflix crime thriller series Untamed, starring opposite Eric Bana.

Before joining Buchwald, Sato was represented by AEFH (Amsel, Eisenstadt, Frazier & Hinojosa) under youth division partners Nicole Jolley and Milton Perea.

Buchwald continues expanding across entertainment verticals in 2026, following recent client additions like digital comedy creator Mario Mirante and two-time NBA All-Star Baron Davis.

Takeaways

Sato’s move to Buchwald comes at a critical pivot point in his career. After proving himself as a dependable lead in youth-oriented programming on Disney+ and Peacock, landing a role in a prestige Netflix drama like Untamed shows he is aging up into adult material.

Buchwald’s broader theatrical footprint will give Sato access to competitive film auditions and mature television projects that smaller boutique agencies often struggle to land.

At the same time, because the signing covers theater and voiceover alongside film and television, Sato’s team is preserving space for his multi-hyphenate musical and vocal background rather than pigeonholing him into a single format.

Will Buchwald’s agency network help Sato translate his television momentum into a breakthrough lead role in a major studio film? How effectively will his team leverage his musical background into theater or animated voiceover projects alongside his screen work?
