I’m looking for a celebrity partner that would be a good fit with my on-demand beauty business. Basically, we have an app where clients can schedule appointments, and our stylists go to them at their home, office, or hotel. I think it would be a great idea to get a celebrity to endorse our app. What should I look for in a potential endorsement partner?
I can only tell you what I look for when choosing a celebrity to work with our brand, but we’ve had pretty good success utilizing celebrities in our marketing.
First, look for someone who is familiar to your clients. Obviously, with the type of business you’re in, you’ll want someone who is known for style. If your stylists work in a particular region, you may even want to look for a celebrity who came from your area. You don’t have to go that route, but we’ve found that our local clients have a good response to well-known people from our city.
Think about who your clients would trust to give them style advice. You likely don’t want to go with someone with an extreme style, unless you’re targeting the “edgy/punk” niche. But a celebrity who embodies a down-to-earth, modern look might be good.
Also, try to find someone who hasn’t done a ton of endorsements for a wide variety of services. You may think the experience would make them a good choice, but celebs who spend most of their time endorsing products tend to make your potential clients think they are just endorsing you for the money and not because they really like your brand. Think believability.
