I have been coming across the word ‘rider’ a lot lately getting some artists. Can someone explain or refer an article I can read to better understand it?

the term rider is what's requested from the artist to be made available when they touch down up until or beyond the gig finishing. Some artist requested that only green m+ms where supplied in the changing room ... some are seriously out there.......
