I read a lot about connecting with influencers and how it can help businesses to reach more clients. But I don’t have any existing connections with influencers in my field. How can I find someone to share my content?
I was in the same boat as you a few years ago, but it’s actually not that hard to connect with influencers. The first thing you need to do is make sure you’re trying to connect with the right people. Make a big list of all the influencers in your field or a related field. Make sure none of them are in direct competition for your client niche. Then, do a little research on each one, including:
- How often they post on various media platforms
- How closely their content relates to yours
- How many followers they have
- How much their followers interact with their posts
You may think of other things you want to look for, too.
Select a handful of influencers to start with, and think of a piece of your content that would be useful to them. Reach out with an email or tag them in a post. Start sharing, liking, commenting on, and retweeting their content. Basically, do things to benefit them and create good feelings. Then, when you contact them with an email, they may remember who you are and return the favor.
