Brian Burton, Brian Joseph Burton

Brian Joseph Burton, better known as Danger Mouse, is an award winning American musician, producer and songwriter. Originally from Athens, Georgia, Burton first came into the music scene with his debut album, ‘The Grey Album’ which was a mix of a cappella versions of Jay-Z’s ‘The Black Album’. The album was originally for close friends of Burton but eventually gained traction online. Upon its release, Rolling Stone called it “the ultimate remix record”. ‘The Grey Album’ gave Burton the limelight and was asked by Damon Albarn from the Gorillaz to produce their second album, ‘Demon Days’ which led to Burton’s nomination for a Grammy award for Producer of the Year. As Danger Mouse, Burton released a project titled ‘The Mouse and the Mask’ which was released exclusively for Cartoon Network’s, “Adult Swim”. While the music scene was buzzing for Burton’s production, in 2006 singer and producer CeeLo Green teamed up with Danger Mouse as the duo, Gnarls Barkley. The duo was widely known for their debut single, ‘Crazy’, which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, listed by Rolling Stone as part of “The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time” and won a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance amongst many other awards. After receiving high acclaim alongside CeeLo Green, Danger Mouse went on to produce with The Black Keys, Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers and U2 among many other big names. Throughout his career, Burton has won 6 Grammy’s and has been nominated for 22. Amongst these awards, in 2009, Paste named Danger Mouse as the Producer of the Decade and in 2013, the Music Producer’s Guild named him International Producer of the Year.
