Born in 1990 in Oakland, California, singer-songwriter Adrian Marcel is gaining a huge amount of attention to his music thanks to the mentorship of the legendary Raphael Saadiq. As a young boy, Marcel was highly influenced by the old-school sounds of Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke, coupled with the more recent music of Usher and Saadiq himself. He is praised for his versatility in sound, from the smooth R&B jams to his up-tempo beats. Under the guidance of Saadiq, Marcel released his mixtape 7 Days of Weak, in April of 2013. Since then, he has had the opportunity to meet and work with some very big names in music, such as with Wale and Sage the Gemini.
In February 2014, Marcel released his single “2AM”, which featured Sage the Gemini on a verse. Marcel was also given the opportunity to go on tour with The-Dream and Kelly Rowland just before getting back to the studio to work on his first album.
