99 Souls are a British electronic music duo, made up of Jo and Soul, who are both producers, samplers, and DJs. They became widely known by the public in 2015, when they took the electronic music world by storm, releasing their hit single “The Girl Is Mine”. The single sampled Destiny’s Child’s 2005 super hit “Girl” and 90’s classical “Boy Is Mine” by Brandy & Monica. To make that song, they had to negotiate for almost a year, in order to obtain the rights to sample the original songs, however their effort paid off, as their single was an absolute success, quickly climbing up the charts until they peaked at number 5 on the Official UK Singles Chart. They have also collaborated with many artists, including Sigala’s Sweet Lovin’ vocalist, Bryn Christopher, among many others.
