  • The drop features the Permian frame with Prizm Ruby lenses, accompanied by the Sutro Lite Sweep and youth-fit Resistor Sweep.
  • The launch coincides with Mahomes' return under head coach Andy Reid for the Kansas City Chiefs following surgery on his torn ACL and LCL.
  • Mahomes has partnered with Oakley since 2019, maintaining active corporate relationships with Adidas and State Farm.

Patrick Mahomes II and eyewear giant Oakley have expanded their long-running partnership with the debut of the Patrick Mahomes II Signature Series Permian.

The release arrives right as the three-time Super Bowl champion prepares for Week 1 action with the Kansas City Chiefs against the Denver Broncos.

Head coach Andy Reid confirmed Mahomes will start under center after the quarterback completed a nine-month recovery from torn ACL and LCL ligaments suffered in December 2025.

The headline frame of the new release is the Permian, priced at $213. Made from Oakley’s durable O-Matter material, the rectangular design combines a Black Ink frame and matte clear pad-print stems with an anodized red icon.

Oakley fitted the silhouette with Prizm Ruby lenses to improve color and contrast in bright sunlight. The capsule also includes the Sutro Lite Sweep and youth-fit Resistor Sweep.

Both sports frames feature Dark Galaxy finishes, Trans Black Ink stems, Prizm Black lenses, black ear socks, and polished gold icon deco plates with subtle red accents. Each pair comes packaged in a matte black box with gold foil and a custom microfiber bag.

Mahomes first signed with Oakley in March 2019 as the company’s first NFL ambassador. Their seven-year relationship has delivered several custom runs, including previous takes on the Sutro Ti, Latch Panel, and the 2025 Chaminade release.

The drop adds to a busy fall for Mahomes, who recently led a family-focused CommunityAmerica Credit Union campaign with his wife and children. He also remains a lead endorser for State Farm and continues expanding his Gladiator initiative with Adidas across high school sports programs.

Oakley continues to broaden its presence in both sports performance and lifestyle culture. Earlier this year, Travis Scott, Tom Brady, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and more fronted an Oakley campaign to introduce the brand’s collaborative Cactus Jack collection.

The eyewear company also maintains signature product capsules with international soccer star Kylian Mbappé.

Takeaways

Patrick Mahomes’ newest Oakley release highlights how elite athletes synchronize their most lucrative commercial activations with high-stakes career milestones.

Instead of dampening sponsor interest, Mahomes’ nine-month rehabilitation gave his brand partners an ideal narrative runway to build anticipation for his Week 1 comeback.

For Oakley, this collection reinforces a well-balanced commercial strategy. While experimental collaborations like Cactus Jack generate streetwear buzz, athlete signature lines like Mahomes’ Permian series drive volume among mainstream sports fans.

By blending Kansas City’s red-and-gold aesthetic with proprietary Prizm optical tech, Oakley turns team-inspired apparel into functional everyday eyewear.

Does launching a signature lifestyle product alongside an injury comeback generate more consumer engagement than a traditional offseason drop? Will Patrick Mahomes take on greater creative direction over his signature merchandise lines as his playing career matures?
