  • Michael Bryan, former Global Head of Country Music at Apple Music, has officially launched Southern Drift, a Nashville-based management and media company, after exiting Apple in October 2025.
  • Charlie Worsham, a two-time ACM and back-to-back CMA Award winner (2024 Musician of the Year, 2025 Touring Musician of the Year), is Southern Drift's first management client, having previously been handled by Friends At Work.
  • The company's first media venture is chart-topping podcast God's Country, hosted by hit songwriters Reid and Dan Isbell (The Brothers Hunt), with Jordon Isbell serving as Executive Producer.
  • Executive hires include COO/GM Taryn Anderson (ex-Sandbox Entertainment and FBMM, Inc.) and VP Marketing Jordon Isbell (ex-Virgin Music Group Nashville).

Michael Bryan, who spent nearly six years at Apple Music, rising from Director of Country Radio to Global Head of Country Music, stepped away from the platform in October 2025 and has now launched Southern Drift, a Nashville-based management and media company.

Bryan’s career spans talent representation at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and radio programming as SVP at iHeartMedia, where he helped launch The Bobby Bones Show and provided early radio support to artists like Dan + Shay.

Southern Drift’s debut management client is Charlie Worsham, who was previously handled by Friends At Work. Worsham has been on a career-defining run, winning CMA Musician of the Year in 2024 and CMA Touring Musician of the Year in 2025 while touring with Dierks Bentley. He dropped “They Never Do” featuring Lainey Wilson in March 2026, with a new full-length album expected.

Southern Drift also partners with God’s Country, a chart-topping podcast hosted by songwriters Reid and Dan Isbell.

Rounding out the executive team, Taryn Anderson joins as COO/GM, bringing experience as CFO/COO at Sandbox Entertainment and Account Executive at FBMM, Inc.

Jordon Isbell steps in as VP Marketing and God’s Country Executive Producer, coming from Virgin Music Group’s Nashville roster and her own media firm, 270 Media & Co.

The launch fits a notable 2026 pattern in music and entertainment. Just as Scott Borchetta unveiled a management division at Borchetta Entertainment Group anchored by Carly Pearce, and just as Choice Sports Group launched a niche-focused player representation firm in women’s basketball, Southern Drift is betting that specialized, independent infrastructure beats legacy full-service models.

Takeaways

This isn’t just another management company launch, it’s a calculated bet by one of Nashville’s most well-connected platform insiders.

Bryan spent years on the streaming and radio side watching how artists build audiences, which gives Southern Drift a real edge over traditional management firms that operate from a purely live-and-label perspective.

The Worsham signing is smart and telling. He’s not a commercial radio star chasing hits, he’s a musician’s musician who has earned back-to-back major CMA awards, a growing international fanbase, and genuine credibility across Nashville’s creative community. That’s exactly the kind of artist who thrives under a boutique, artist-first model rather than a crowded roster at a legacy firm.

Pairing artist management with podcast content from day one signals that Southern Drift sees content as core infrastructure, not a bonus. God’s Country gives the company a media platform it can build around, and that’s a structural advantage most new management firms don’t walk in with.

Could Southern Drift’s media arm become a pipeline for breaking new artists, similar to how radio platforms once did? Will Bryan’s Apple Music relationships translate into meaningful platform priority for Worsham and future signings?
