Janine Nabers has signed with Blue Marble Pictures for representation across film, television, and all media, with founder and CEO Theresa Kang-Lowe leading the deal.
The Houston-born writer, playwright, and producer is best known for teaming with Donald Glover to co-create and executive produce Prime Video’s Swarm, winner of the 2024 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Limited Series and an Emmy nominee for Outstanding Writing for a Limited Series.
Before Swarm, Nabers built her TV career on Glover’s FX series Atlanta (Peabody Award winner) and HBO’s Watchmen (WGA Award), along with Away, Dietland, UnREAL, and Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce.
She’s now under her third overall deal with Amazon, developing Shani, a series based on the iconic ’90s Mattel doll that would mark the toy giant’s first premium scripted show if picked up.
A Juilliard playwriting fellowship graduate, Nabers joins a Blue Marble roster including Lena Waithe, Prentice Penny, Gordon Smith, and Jason Kim. She remains represented by WME for television and 2PM Sharp for public relations.
Kang-Lowe, who also runs Blue Marble Pictures, has kept the management side active with writer signings all year; Wu-Tang: An American Saga co-creator Alex Tse joined in October, and National Book Award winner Charles Yu signed on in April.
