The main retail piece is a long-sleeve PUMA KING shirt crafted in black and archive gold. It features the phrase “DON’T BE DUMB” running down the sleeve and a bold “MANCHESTER” graphic printed across the back. Supporters can also add limited-edition “A$AP 11” name and number printing to their official 2026/27 home, away, or third kits.

Alongside the public release, PUMA and Rocky created an exclusive sky-blue edition given directly to Manchester City players. That shirt features subtle “D.B.D.” sleeve detailing and a stop-sign graphic on the back reading “STOP SNITCHIN, MANCHESTER.”

The release dropped exclusively in Manchester on a first-come, first-served basis. PUMA kicked off the rollout on September 4 by converting Northern Quarter venue Black Milk into the “Don’t Be Dumb Caff.”

Select jerseys contained “Golden Tickets” giving fans access to Rocky’s September 5 show at Manchester’s Co-op Live arena or City’s Premier League match against Coventry City. The remaining shirts went on sale at the Etihad Stadium Store on September 5.

This release strengthens A$AP Rocky’s long-term partnership with PUMA, where he has served as creative director for motorsport collections since late 2023. Earlier this year, he unveiled the brand’s classic Suede 94 to spotlight vintage sneaker heritage.

Beyond sportswear, the Harlem rapper fronts ads for Italian luxury house Bottega Veneta and recently designed a collaborative eyewear line with Ray-Ban. He also expanded his commercial footprint by reuniting with Rihanna for a Fenty Skin campaign championing daily SPF protection.

PUMA frequently partners with major entertainment figures to expand beyond pitch performance. The company previously built a massive cultural footprint through its collaborative lines with music megastar Rihanna and global pop icon Dua Lipa.

Rocky’s new football initiative also includes an international sister release, bringing custom streetwear kits to Italian giants AC Milan.

Takeaways

This collaboration shows how modern football clubs are moving past generic match kits and into true high-fashion streetwear.

By skipping a wide global online release in favor of an in-person, Manchester-only pop-up, PUMA and Manchester City prioritized scarcity, local community pride, and genuine consumer excitement.

Tying the collection directly to Rocky’s headlining arena concert and a Premier League fixture allowed the club to reach music fans who care just as much about fashion as they do about league points.

Will more European clubs allow musical artists to alter traditional team kit elements for official lifestyle lines? How does pairing an album release with football apparel influence the way musicians plan future merchandise rollouts?
