Literary manager Scott Stoops is making a big move. After 11 years at Good Fear Content, where he rose to Partner in 2023, Stoops has officially joined Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment.

Stoops first got his footing in the industry as an assistant at Paradigm, working his way up from the below-the-line department to an MP Lit group Agent Trainee. He later moved to Benderspink, which eventually evolved into Good Fear Content, where he built his reputation over more than a decade.

His departure follows that of producer and manager Jake Weiner, who recently left Good Fear to launch his own company, Harvest Hill Entertainment, after 25 years alongside producer Chris Bender.

Stoops is bringing a notable client roster with him to Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment, headlined by director Kirill Sokolov, whose New Line genre film They Will Kill You just had its world premiere at SXSW and opens in theaters on March 27. Other clients include Megan McDonnell (The Marvels, Dark Matter), Aisha Porter-Christie (Gen V, Daredevil), and Rayna McClendon (Fourth Wing, Tomb Raider), among others.

In a statement, Stoops said he is “incredibly excited to begin the next chapter” of his career at KPE, and the firm’s partners welcomed him for his reputation and passion for talent.

This move mirrors a broader trend of experienced managers repositioning at boutique powerhouses. Similar recent moves include Rebekah Plattner joining Tour Peachy and Josh Pyatt joining WTSL Win Sports Group.

Takeaways

The entertainment industry is in the middle of a quiet but significant reshuffling at the management level. Stoops’ move to Kaplan/Perrone Entertainment isn’t just a career change, it’s a signal of where top-tier lit managers see the most opportunity right now. K

PE has been on an upward trajectory, recently topping management company mentions on the Black List 2025 alongside Untitled Entertainment, and this hire only adds to that momentum.

For Stoops’ clients, especially those on the cusp of major releases like Kirill Sokolov, the timing matters. Landing at a firm with KPE’s industry pull right as They Will Kill You hits theaters is no accident.

Does Stoops’ move signal that boutique management companies like KPE are now outpacing legacy firms in attracting top literary talent? Could this move spark more reshuffling in the film literary management space throughout 2026?
