It seems when I book shows through major agencies like CAA or WME, there comes a point when I have to deal with an agent who will stick to a price even though I know for sure the math doesn’t add up. They feel since we have a bigger venue and selling tickets at a certain price that there client deserves the price. Anybody have any advice on this?
Well sometimes you have to just walk away if you aren’t going to get the deal that you want. There have been many times when I have passed on an artist because the agent wasn’t able to get the artist to accept our offer for within our budget. We usually do substantial research before putting in an offer, and there is a limit that we won’t move from. My advice to you is to just walk away if you think the deal is out of your means for having a profitable event.
