Last week we hired a rapper (not going to say who) to promote our product on their Instagram. Literally 2 days later they promoted a competitor of ours. I emailed the manager about this multiple times and he’s been ignoring my messages. They didn’t sign an agreement so not sure what my options are. Thinking might just take it as a learning experience for future promotions.
Well there isn't much you can do since there isn't a contract. Though what they did isn't ethical, if it wasn't agreed upon beforehand or even spoke about that they couldn't advertise a competitor then not much there. Though you might have just assumed this, still not much to do. The manager at this point isn't likely to do anything as he would have to give the money back to the competitor. Also was this a IG story or post, that also makes a difference. If it was an IG story which are only up for 24 hours then those really aren't perceived as a formal endorsement if thats the only way they're promoting it.
