We are a small company, and have been trying to reach out to some celebrity DJs to support our product. We spoke to the managers of some DJs but they are all asking for more money than we can afford. Our product speaks to their audience, and is also useful to them as well. We have considered providing equity to the DJs, but want to avoid that route if possible. I am looking for tips from people with experience on getting celebrities to use their product.

Have you tried reaching out to publicists? Here is a strategy that has been effective:
Starting with the celebrities publicist is usually the first place you want to start, unless that celebrity doesn’t have a publicist then the manager is the next best thing. I recommend that you target the publicists of the celebrities you want to reach out to. I would reach out to them, and introduce yourself what you are wanting to do before sending over the product. After you have done this and gotten approval, its the waiting game/following up game. Keep in mind that publicists and managers are very busy, so the product may sit around for a few weeks (sometimes months), before they ever get the product to the celebrity so keeping in touch is important. However, you do not want to be a pest (as this will be counterproductive). A good time frame, is following up every 2-3 weeks. Also be very clear what you are looking for (whether you are sending it to them just because you want them to wear/use your product, or your looking for an endorsement, or just gifting the celebrity). Of course you are not going to get a response and be successful with everybody, but in order to increase your chances, its important that you target the celebrity correctly by making sure the celebrity is a good fit for your product. Oh yea, and cross your fingers
