When booking an artist for a concert, after our offer is received and we’re presented with a contract to sign, is it typical for us to also provide a contract for the artist’s agency to sign as well to protect ourselves? Or is there usually just the one contract?
Yes of course
The agency and the contractor negotiate the terms of the contract before the final one is made. Normally the contractor draws up the final version based on all the agreed terms from both parties.
No, usually it is the artists' management or agent who signed the contract only. That applies mainly for A-list artists, where their agents do not agree to sign other contracts except this.
Most of the time its just one contract, and its provided by the agency. But with that being said, its definitely not unheard of for the agency to be sent a contract as well. You see this happening mainly with university/school events and corporate events, rather than concerts.
