Yotam Ottolenghi is a chef and food writer born on 14th December 1968 in Jerusalem. He co-owns six delis and restaurants in England and he’s well known for writing some of the bestselling books, including “Ottolenghi” in 2008, “Plenty” in 2010, “Jerusalem” in 2012, and “SIMPLE” in 2018. He started his career as a pastry chef, eventually becoming the head of pastry chef in 1999. He met Palestinian chef Sami Tamimi, with whom they started the delicatessen Ottolenghi in London.
In 2006, he started writing a column for the British daily newspaper The Guardian called “The New Vegetarian.” His first book “Ottolenghi” was published in 2208 and has sold more than 100,000 copies. He has also hosted TV shows, including “Jerusalem on a Plate” in 2011, “Ottolenghi’s Mediterranean Feast” in 2012 and “Ottolengh’s Mediterranean Island Feast” in 2013. He was a guest judge on the 9th and 11th seasons of the cooking game show “Masterchef Australia.”
