Wintersun is a band from Helsinki, Finland. The band was formed in 2003, and its current members include lead vocalist/keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Jari Mäenpää, drummer Kai Hahto, leading guitarist/backing vocalist Teemu Mäntysaari, and bassist/backing vocalist Jukka Koskinen. They released their debut self-titled album on 13th September 2004 under Nuclear Blast. They started recording their second album, “Time” in May 2006.

The album faced major setbacks and would be delayed for years. They released a statement on October 2006 that because the recording was taking time, the dates for the release would be pushed to May 2007. The album was later split into two albums. Part I of the album was released in October 2012. The band said Part II of the album would continue from where part I left off. Their third and last album, “The Forest Seasons” was released in July 2017.
