Veruca Salt is an alternative rock band based out of Chicago. The band comprises Nina Gordon, Louise Post, Jim Shapiro and Steve Lack and was founded in 1992. They released their first single in 1994 after performing a few local shows in Chicago. After their successful single, they released their first album, American Thighs, which reached Gold status. Their second album, Eight Arms to Hold You, released in 1997.

The band separated in 1998 when Nina Gordon pursued a solo career, but they reformed in 2000 and issued the album Resolver. They began touring regularly, releasing new EPs. They released their fourth album, IV, in 2006 before taking another hiatus. Their fifth album, Ghost Notes, released in 2015. They are scheduled to perform in 2018 in an Australian tour.
