Known to the world as Vance Joy, singer/songwriter James Keogh was born in Australia on December 1 1987. In his youth, Vance Joy was heavily involved in sports, yet after a few years he shifted his focus to music and decided to make a career out of this interest. The singer released his debut single in early 2013, entitled “From Afar”, and shortly after, he released his debut EP which he titled God Loves You When You’re Dancing. The leading single from the EP became known as “Riptide”, and received tremendous airplay throughout his native Australia. It was later certified three times Platinum in the country. 2014 saw the release of three singles to precede his debut album Dream Your Life Away. The third single released went to #37 in Australia, and was entitled “Mess Is Mine”. His single “Riptide” would then gain attention in the United States after being featured in a GoPro commercial.
