Uroš Umek, better known as DJ Umek, is a Slovenian music producer and DJ who performs techno and electronic music and is credited for being one of the pioneers of both genres in the Slovenian music scene. Umek began his music career as a DJ in 1993, and over the years, he has established himself as one of the most recognizable DJs in Eastern Europe. His discography includes the hit singles Cryptic Speech, Watchers of the Sky, Vibrancy, Amnesiac, Predator, and the albums Rythmia, Out Of Play which he worked on with Beltek, and Responding To Dynamic. Umek won a Beatport Music Award for Best Techno Artist, an EMPO Award for Best Techno DJ, and two International Dance Music Awards for Best Techno Track and Best Techno/Tech House Artist. Umek has performed at numerous international music events including Deep in Love Festival, VERKNIPT Kingsday Festival, Shelter Festival, Wake The Lake Festival, Infected Festival, and Sea Star Festival.
