Ulpiano Vergara Diaz (who’s also known as El Mechi Blanco) is a Panamanian singer, songwriter and accordionist who was born on July 7th 1948 in San Jose, Los Santos, Panama. He was born and raised in Panama. His brother Hernan Vergara taught Ulpiano how to read notes. Ulpiano started playing the accordion when he was six years old.

Ulpiano is one of the most famous musical figures in Panama. His group has featured a number of popular artists like Domingo Cedeño (aka Mingo), Dalys Villarreal, his brother Franklin Vergara, Luis Rey De Sedas (aka Lucho) and Elita Delgado. Some of his most well known albums include Sin rencores (featuring Lucho de Sedas, Por Todo Lo Alto (2007), Gratitud (2016), X100pre (2019) and Te Quiero Amar (1994).
