Torche is an American metal and stoner rock band formed in 2004 in Miami, Florida by vocalist and guitarist Steve Brooks after the breakup of his former band Floor. Along with former Floor member Juan Montoya, drummer Rick Smith, and bassist Jonathan Nuñez, the band released a self-titled debut LP in 2005 with label Robotic Empire. The subsequent touring saw the quartet sharing U.S. stages with bands like Jesu, Mouth of the Architect, Sword, Isis, and Mogwai. After a remastered version of this record was issued in 2007, an EP titled In Return went out with a jacket designed by Baroness’ John Baizley. A second full-length album called Meanderthal hit the stores in 2008 and had the band touring with acts like Coheed and Cambria. Chart-topper Harmonicraft was released in 2012. By 2020, Torche underwent some lineup changes and put forth two more studio albums: Restarter (2015) and Admission (2019).
