Tionne Tenese Watkins (April 26, 1970), widely known by her stage name ‘T-Boz’, is an American singer, songwriter, executive producer, author and actress. Born in Des Moines, Iowa but grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, she rose to fame when she was a member of 90’s iconic girl group, TLC. During her time with TLC, the group won 4 Grammy Awards and had 14 nominations. Aside from her work with TLC, T-Box has her own solo tracks such as ‘My Getaway’ for the Rugrats in Paris: The Movie soundtrack in 2000 and ‘Touch Myself’ for the Fled soundtrack. She has also collaborated solo with artists such as Da Brat, Society of Soul, Raphael Saadiq and Paula Cole. In 1999, Tionne published her first book, ‘Thoughts’, a collection of essays and poems describing her personal life and experiences. After their 2002 release, ‘3D’, TLC’s music came to a standstill with no further singles or albums. Thus, Tionne moved on to other ventures, such as opening Chase’s Closet, a children’s clothing boutique named after her daughter Chase which won Best Kid’s Store 4 years in a row. In 2013, Watkins aired her own reality TV show, Totally T-Bot, which only had 4 episodes. As a child, she was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia, and she wrote about it in her second book, ‘A Sick Life: TLC ‘n Me: Stories from On and Off the Stage’ mentioning her struggles with the sickness. Tionne currently has a CBD line called TLCBD, in hopes of helping others who suffer from sickness or pain.
