The Notwist is a music group from Germany. The group was formed in 1989, and its current members include guitarist/vocalist Markus Archer, bassist Micha Archer, drummer Andi Haberl, Karl Ivar Refseth, Max Punktezahl, and Cico Beck of Joasihno. They released the self-titled debut album in 1991, followed by another studio album, titled “Nook,” the following year. In 1995, they released a new album titled “12.” Their fifth album “Neon Golden,” marked the breakthrough of their music career as it was highly acclaimed by American listeners.
The group released their sixth album, titled “The Devil, You + Me,” in 2008. In 2012, they went on tour, playing songs from a new studio album. In 2014, they released the album “Close to the Glass” under Sub Pop Records. In 2015, their album “Close to the Glass” was nominated for the European Independent Album of the Year Award by IMPALA.
