Steve Harvey was born on January 17, 1957 in Welch, West Virginia. He started his career doing stand-up comedy in the 1980s, landing a hosting role for It’s Showtime at the Apollo. He had a starring role in Me and the Boys in 1994 and starred in The Steve Harvey Show from 1996 to 2002. He continued a comedy tour in 1997, which went to DVD. His last stand-up comedy act was in 2012. He started hosting The Steve Harvey Morning Show in 2000 and began hosting Family Feud in 2010. His talk show, Steve Harvey, ran from 2012 to 2016.

Harvey has hosted the Miss Universe Pageant and several other award shows. His talk show Steve premiered in 2017.
