Sonata Arctica was formed in 1996 in Kemi, Finland and originally went by the name Tricky Beans. Under their previous name, the band released three songs – PeaceMaker, Agre Pamppers, and Friends Till the End. The name was changed to Tricky Means in 1997 under which they recorded FullMoon. In 1999, this demo landed the band with an album deal, and the name was changed to Sonata Arctica. In summer of that year, they released UnOpened, the first single off the album and this was followed by the release of their album Ecliptica. The band’s current members include Tony Kakko, Pasi Kauppinen, Henrik Klingenberg, Tommy Portimo, and Elias Viljanen. Other albums released by the band are Silence, Winterheart’s Guild, Reckoning Night, Unia, The Days of Grays, Stones Grow Her Name, Pariah’s Child, and The Ninth Hour.
